Rajnath Singh: Cabinet Committee on Security clears Agnipath scheme for armed forces, announces Rajnath Singh

Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has given its approval for the Agnipath scheme that will revolutionise the recruitment process for armed forces. The scheme will provide opportunity for youth to work for shorter and longer tenures.

Calling the decision historic, defence minister Rajnath Singh said that the move will help the eligible youth to work for India’s armed forces.

Singh added that the move will impart a youthful profile to the Armed forces.

“It would help to train them for new technologies & also improve their health levels. This scheme will increase employment opportunities with new skills in different sectors,” said the defence minister while addressing the press.

The ‘Agnivirs’ will be given a good pay package & an exit retirement package after a service of 4 years, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, on the announcement of the ‘Agnipath’ recruitment scheme, in Delhi

“We will provide an opportunity to the youth to serve the nation for short and long duration, as agniveers…We are giving youth a chance for both long and short duration military service,” said Lt Gen Anil Puri, Additional Secretary, Dept of Military Affairs.
