PUNE: Assam rifle shooter Dishant Deywho was travelling from Guwahati to Thiruvananthapuram for the National Championshipswas de-boarded from Indigo flight minutes before the take-off on Thursday.
Dishant and his mother were not given any reason by the airlines staff and later they were accommodated on a Kochi flight by the airlines.
Later, the shooter and his mother were informed that the Directorate General Civil Aviation (DGCA) had restricted the airlines from carrying ‘Dangerous Goods, including guns and ammunition to Thiruvananthapuram till November 30’.
“It was shocking for us when we were asked to deboard. Later, we were accommodated in a flight to Kochi and the airlines also arranged a cab for us from Kochi to Thiruvananthapuram, which was paid by them,” Dey told TOI. When contacted, the airlines spokesperson said they were bound by the DGCA instructions.
“Our staff was following the DGCA instructions and there was no intent to cause discomfort to any passengers.”
