PM Modi meets Erdogan, holds talks with Iranian President Raisi | India News


NEW DELHI: In his first bilateral meeting with Iranian President Ebrahim ChairmanPM Narendra Modi reviewed with him the progress in the development of the Shahid Behesti terminal, Chabahar Port and underscored the importance of bilateral cooperation in the field of regional connectivity. The port, which is important for India’s access to central Asia, also figured in PM’s interventions in the restricted session of the summit.
The two leaders also discussed international and regional developments including Afghanistan. “Prime Minister reiterated India’s priorities of providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan and the need for a representative and inclusive political dispensation in support of a peaceful, stable and secure Afghanistan,’’ said the government in a statement.
Raisi also briefed Modi on the status of the JCPOA negotiations which are said to be in a stalemate.
Significantly, Modi also held a bilateral meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Türkiye, a country India has had serious differences with over the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and Ankara’s unflinching support to Pakistan.
