NEW DELHI: In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the government on Thursday appointed 12 secretaries. Sunil BarthwalBihar framework IAS of 1989 batch will take charge as the commerce secretary from October and Vivek Bhardwaj from West Bengal cadre will be the new mines secretary from next month.
According to an order issued by the personnel department. Arti Ahuja of Odisha cadre will be the new labour and employment secretary. Currently, she is chemicals and petrochemicals secretary. Ahuja will be replaced by Arun Baroka of UT cadre.
The current commerce secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam has been appointed as chairman and managing director at India Trade Promotion Organization on a contract basis for two years.
The cabinet committee on appointment (ACC) has also approved the appointment of Arun Singhal of Uttar Pradesh cadre as the new fertilizer secretary. Currently, he is the CEO of food safety regulator, FSSAI. Anjali Bhawra of Punjab cadre, who is currently secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, has been shifted to Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. Rajesh Aggarwal of Maharashtra cadre, who is now skill development secretary will take the place of Bhawra.
An IAS of 1989 batch from Kerala cadre, Rajesh Kumar Singh has been appointed as the new secretary of animal husbandry and dairying. The government has also appointed Mukhmeet Singh Bhatia of Jharkhand cadre as the new minority affairs secretary. Vijoy Kumar Singhan IAS from Punjab has been appointed as the secretary of the ex-servicemen welfare department in the defence ministry.
The government has appointed Atul Kumar Tiwari of Karnataka cadre as the secretary in skill development. Gudey Srinivas of Odisha cadre has been appointed as the new parliamentary affairs secretary.
