Market open: Sensex, Nifty at fresh 52-week low | Business

Sensex and Nifty both opened in red as global central banks raise rates to tone down inflation. Equity indices slumped to fresh 52-week lows on Thursday as markets extended their losing streak to fifth straight session. The 30-share BSE index plunged 1,046 points or 1.99 per cent to close at 51,496; while the broader NSE Nifty settled 332 points or 2.11 per cent lower at 15,361. Some of the top losers in Sensex include Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, Wipro and IndusInd Bank.
