Saira Banu gets emotional as she accepts Bharat Ratna Dr Ambedkar Award for late husband Dilip Kumar

Veteran actress Saira Banuwho hardly makes public appearances, was seen attending an event on Tuesday. She was seen accepting the Bharat Ratna Dr Ambedkar Award on the behalf of her late husband, actor Dilip Kumar. Saira Banu, who is often seen sharing priceless anecdotes of her late husband, got emotional while accepting the award. She remembered Dilip Kumar and said that he is ‘still here’.

The late actor was recently announced as a recipient of the Bharat Ratna Dr Ambedkar Award. Saira Banu fondly remembered her ‘kohinoor’. She also said that she feels Dilip Ji should be honoured with a Bharat Ratna as well.

The video of Saira Banu was shared by a paparazzo on Instagram. She was seen standing next to union minister Ramdas Athawalewho presented her the award. While speaking to the media, the veteran actress spoke about a Bharat Ratna for her husband. She said, “It should happen, because Dilip Sahab has been the ‘Kohinoor’ for Hindustan. So ‘Kohinoor’ should definitely receive a Bharat Ratna.” She further added, “He’s still here. He is not in my memories, I believe it’s the truth that he is here with me at every step, because this is how I will be able to live my life. I will never think that he’s not here. Wo mere paas hain, hamesha mera sahara banke rahenge– mera Kohinoor.”

Dilip Kumar passed away last year in July at the age of 98.
