Days after director Todd Phillips confirmed the sequel to ‘Joker’, more information on the highly anticipated sequel has turned up online.

‘Joker: Madness for Two‘ that will see the return of Joaquin Phoenixas Arthur Fleckwill reportedly add another Oscar winner to the star cast. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lady Gag is in early talks to play the leading lady opposite Joaquin in the sequel of the $1 billion Warner Bros. hit based on the DC character.

Details about Gaga‘s role in the film have been kept under wraps, but it is being rumoured that the singer and actress may just take on the role of Harley Quinn. Fans of the DC comics will know of the character’s on-off abusive relationship with the Joker. Quinn is his psychiatrist at the Arkham Asylum and eventually falls in love with him and becomes his partner in crime.

However, it is still unclear if the character will be much like the DC character, or like Arthur, deviates from the comics with the director putting his own interpretation.

Interestingly, the sequel is also touted to be a musical.

It would be interesting to see if a deal is made and Gaga takes on the role of Quinn at a time when the character still exists in the DCEU with Margot Robbie playing the part. Her last outing as the character was in James Gunn‘s 2021 film ‘The Suicide Squad’.

There is no official confirmation from Warner Bros for the moment, but given the popularity of the original film, a sequel looked inevitable.

Phillips film reimagined the iconic Batman villain into an anti-hero character study about a struggling comedian and part-time clown performer Arthur Fleck. Phoenix won the best actor Oscar for his role in the film.

Phillips has been co-writing the script with ‘Joker’ co-writer Scott Silver for some time and has finally shown it to the studio.
