On Friday, 22,645 new cases of Kovid-19 were reported in West Bengal, taking the total number of people affected by the epidemic in the state to 18,63,697 so far. The Health Department gave this information in the bulletin issued.
28 people died in a single day in the state
According to the department, 822 cases have come less on Friday as compared to Thursday. According to the bulletin, since the third wave of the epidemic that started in the month of December, so far 28 people died due to infection in the state on Friday. With this, the total number of people who lost their lives due to the epidemic in the state has increased to 20,013.
Most cases came in Kolkata
The department said that the infection rate has come down and it stood at 31.14 percent on Friday as against 32.13 percent on Thursday, while the death rate has increased to 1.07 percent. According to the bulletin, Kolkata had the maximum number of 6,867 new cases during the last 24 hours, while 4,018 people were confirmed infected in North 24 Parganas district.
The department said that out of the 28 patients who died during the last 24 hours, eight were from North 24 Parganas district while 7 patients were from Kolkata. According to the bulletin, 8,687 patients have become infection free in the last 24 hours.
At present, 1,45,483 patients are undergoing treatment in West Bengal. According to the bulletin, 72,725 samples have been tested since Thursday, in which 2,28,08,650 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in West Bengal so far.
